I always though that my friend made the weirdest Ford Fairmont conversion but it seems that this wasn’t true. This wins by a clear margin. Here’s my friend’s car that was fitted with a 50's Skoda wagon body.

Weirdest yes, but by no means cooler, Skoda wagon wins. Skoda wagon some of the things! Must be somewhere in Europe, we don’t have groovy old Skodas like that lying around the farms around here, although they did sell them in Canada in the 80's.

Saw your Charger and am so jealous, Do you know if the 67 Plymouth Sattelite 4 door 426 hemi car that was exported new to Finland is still out there, I love the old 4 doors and that particular one ins the holy grail.

Yeah. I know the car and I have seen it once. It’s a quite legendary piece of history. Here’s a short version what I know.

Chrysler’s official importer in 60's was a local company called Berner. The CEO (or what was his title?) decided to order two nice family cars. One was that certain Satellite with a Hemi and the other was a GTX with a similar Hemi. The guy’s family owned the both cars for couple of years. Then he moved to the US and sold both of the cars.

the GTX stayed in fairly good hands. But the the Satellite went to guys who used it for smuggling booze (we have high taxes for alcohol). Eventually the car ended up in some guys hands who had a ‘71 Charger with 318 engine. Naturally he thought that the best thing that he could do was to swap the engines.

The Satellite was used for a while with the small engine but eventually it was forgotten and parked in some barn/backyard. In 90's some guy found the car and decided to restore it. It was displayed in one car show in the barn find condition without the engine. At this point I saw it and took a picture of it. I could try to find it and scan it.

I’m not totally sure but I think that the original engine was found from Sweden. My friend rebuilt the engine and it is now waiting the car to be finished. My last update was that the project has progressed but is still unfinished. I know couple of guys how could tell what’s the current situation.

And there’s a bonus side story. My first car was ‘63 Chrysler Newport (I sold it 2 years ago). When I bought the car the seller gave my two complete front spindles with large drums with the car. According to his story they had been pulled from the Hemi GTX when it was upgraded with disc brakes. So I have been waiting to meet the owner of the GTX and ask about it. I had seen the car in shows but I hadn’t meet the owner.

On Sunday I went to buy a car (E34 M5 which I did buy). The seller had a nice garage full of interesting cars and when were checking them out I noticed that the Hemi GTX was parked in the garage. It was his dads car.

So I met also his dad and heard that the car had always had disc brakes. So my parts are from some other car. It took me nearly 17 years to learn this.

Glad to hear it still exists, not surprised it was used to run booze. There are a couple of hemi 4 door coronets out there, bur as far as I know, that was the only Plymouth.

Will visit Finland for a ride in 4 door hemi! Also in my area we have a sad and strange tie to Finland called the Sukkannen ship. I travel close by it often but have never made the detour. Will go one day and take pics.

I have heard about this ship. Our most interesting magazine (Mobilisti) had a story about it years ago. I didn’t remember it by the name but a picture helped me to remember.

I just remembered that the Plymouth (it was actually a Belvedere) was present in one cars show in 2013. At that point it was still without the engine.

Here’s second picture of it taken in 1986. At this point it had the 318.

Thanks! that’s what I thought it would look like. Old 4 doors are now a rare sight, having given up their parts to save the 2 doors.
